Why Ride With HALTER?
HALTER is an affordable Therapeutic Horseback Riding program that has served residents of Spartanburg, surrounding counties, and students with special needs at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind since 1987.
Therapeutic Horseback Riding is now a growing therapeutic field in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Recognized by the American Physical Therapy Organization and the American Occupational Therapy Organization, Therapeutic Horseback Riding has received national media attention. USA Today, People, CNN, and CBS networks have done features on the topic.
HALTER is a 501 (c)(3) organization that provides services with a dedicated corps of volunteers and public support.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Any person with special needs is welcome to participate in HALTER's Therapeutic Riding Program provided they have their physician's consent so please call Mariana De los Reyes (864-586-1671.
HALTER has physician's form(s) that must be completed and signed by the doctor prior to engaging in the HALTER program each year. Additionally, the riders, their parent(s), or guardian(s) must sign liability release forms and photo release forms. To download these forms please click here.
HALTER reserves the right to refuse riding privileges if there are concerns about the rider's physical ability to participate in the program or because of safety or behavioral issues.
